Power Biggs, Organist Aeolian-Skinner
Organ (1949)
Symphony Hall, Boston
BACH: Orgelbüchlien - The Little Organ Book
BWV 599 - 644
(Each of these 45 Bach chorale is preceded by the earliest
version of the chorale)
One
of the more elusive Biggs 2 LP sets ever! Thanks to a customer who
provided near mint LPs, Haydn House is enthusiastic about making this
recording available to our many Biggs fans after a long wait and
search. It paid off! So unique is this complete set is that each
Bach chorale is preceded by what was then known, at the time of this
recording, to be the original composition or earliest know version of
each hymn on which Bach's Little Organ Book is based. The original sound
is mid 1950's and we remastered it with a stereo effect - very carefully
added - using our Symphony Hall digital ambience setting to complement
up-to-date listening. (You can set you playback to "mono" to
defeat the stereo effect.) The end results are wonderful and
hearing the origin of these chorales brings the entire project over the
top. Highly recommended and highly demanded.

Organ (1959)
Marienkirche, Helsingborg, Sweden
BACH: The 4 Bach / Vivaldi Concerti
for Organ
BWV 593, 596, 594 and 592
This
is the first CD released by Haydn House of organ music played by Anton
Heiller. Having all 4 of these Bach arrangement of Vivaldi
Concertos is precious especially when played as they are here and on the
magnificent Marcussen organ in St. Mary's Church of Helsingborg, Sweden. The original LP issue, although very good in sound, had level problems
All has been brought back to original balance and aural perspective.
It is now a master recording!
(BWV 592 was considered a Vivaldi work
but Is actually that of Prinz Johann Ernst.)
Robert
Noehren, Organist Noehren
Organ, FIrst Baptist Church

20TH CENTURY AMERICAN ORGAN MUSIC ROSS LEE FINNEY: “So long as the mind keeps silent”
SAMUEL ADLER: Recitative
HERBERT FROMM: Partita: Let all mortal flesh keep silent”
LEO SOWERBY: Comes Autumn Time
WALTER PISTON: Chromatic Study on the name of Bach
GERALD NEAR: Passacaglia
ROBERT NOEHREN: Fantasia: Hommage to Hindemith This
is a wonderful addition to the Organ Loft Catalog. Robert
Noehren was one of the best organists of his generation and plays the
music on the organ he built for his church. The sound is very detailed
and with plenty of low end power with a sonic perspective the is
remarkable. There are other Robert Noehren CDs within the
catalog.
