After being provided with two Mercury FR1 Stereo LPs of Marcel Dupré playing his own organ works and of Messiaen, we rushed to our production studio and began the long task of transferring these very-near-perfect LPs to CD.   Sitting to audition these first run LPs was an "limp-jawed" experience and our well-tuned and adjusted subwoofer gave us the complete full range of this recording of this famous organ.  Recorded in 1959, both albums fit on one CD.  Rough splices were fixed and some of the venue noise was removed without touching the music, all this with present day digital editing.  To hear Dupré's own music on "his" pipe organ is revelatory and these recordings attest to that without any reservations.  A must have CD!   Two more CD's from this series can be found on p. 3.

This CD features Johann Sebastian Bach's earlier organ works and played with assurance and "no flash", letting the music speak for itself resulting in religious, musical experience.   The organ is incredible and is the first USA installation by the Rudolph von Beckerath Organ Co of Hamburg, Germany back in 1956.  This recording was made in the early 1960's.

The French Noëls  of the mid 1960's of E. Power Biggs and one of the most difficult LPs to find in prime condition.  Thanks to one or customers, we  were able to secure a perfect condition LP for the transfer.   As there is over 56 minutes on the LP, sonics were compressed and some deep bas was sacrificed to fit it all on LP.  Dynamics have restored and well as the lower sonics.  This transfer to CD is a triumph.

This rare recorded organ concert and dedication was issued on LP 50 years ago and features Marcel Dupré in Eleven Improvisations for organ on Latin verses chanted  by Maurice Cardinal Feltin, Archbishop of Paris and the Army of France.  Raw editing  has been fixed and made to sound more realistic.  Bernard Gavoty  continues the concert with music of Vierne, Franck and Balbastre.  It is a priceless recording and carefully transferred to CD.  Short opening and closing remarks suitable to the occasion are given by M. l'abbé Thorel.

As most of the French church organs of the 17th and 18th centuries were replaced by a plethora of 19th century Cavaillé-Coll instruments, it would be seem that a decent, authentic, baroque organ sound would hard to find in France.  Certainly this was the case when this recording was made in Holland in the late 1950's. What we have here is unique music masterfully played on one of the best: the 1725 F. C. Schnitger Organ at Church of St. Laurent, Alkmaar, Holland.

The Great Festival Organ, certainly great in size at the time it was built ending 1642 is a spectacular example of how perfect organ building was 350+ years ago.  What is more unique here is that this instrument is in its original state and used many pipes from previous instruments.  It is the oldest large pipe in the world with three keyboards.   It is a study in sound of another great pipe organ.  An un-played condition LP was the source for a beautiful transfer to CD which includes many old and unknown works composed near the time this organ was built.

Our own digital master stereo recording of the oldest -original state-  pipe organ in the United States still in regular use for Sunday worship service.  This instrument shipped from England to Cape Cod in 1854, is in use in the  "Captain's Church" (South Dennis, Massachusetts Congregational Church).  Using the mid-side (M-S) digital stereo recording technique, we were able to capture this unique instrument playing in the small church acoustics in honest stereo sound.  Donald Enos, plays with sensitivity and good taste.  This 2003 recording is the only one ever made of this historic instrument.  Superb sound, vital programming.  E Mail us at HaydnHouse@comcast.net for contents.
