Even more rare Biggs recordings!  Taken from a Columbia "6 eye" 3 LP set which highlights another early E. Power Biggs organ tour. The 17 Organ Sonatas were recorded in the Salzburg Cathedral where they were originally performed by Mozart. The organ works were recorded in churches and cathedrals visited by Mozart during his lifetime.  This set was issued in 1955 to celebrate the 200th anniversary year of the composer's birth.  2006 is the 250th year.

This release has been long in coming as finding a decent LP was a monumental task. When this was released in the early 1950's it was a best seller. We were able to secure a Columbia "6 eye" pressing in mint condition in order to bring forth this recording on CD in the best possible sound. The Bach organ works were taken form a similar quality LP.
