Antal Dorati
|
TCHAIKOVSKY: The Nutcracker Ballet (complete) Antal Dorati conducts the Minneapolis Symphony in Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker". This release comes to you after countless requests to put our restoration talents on this master Mercury Living Presence recording and to follow the our highly successful release of Tchaikovsky's "Sleeping Beauty". Never is the sound far below in excellence as one would expect from the Mercury recording team of the early 50's. |

HANDEL: Concerti Grossi, Opus 3
(complete)* Perfect, sensitive performances of the Opus 3 Concertos as recorded in Stereo in 1959. This is one of the first and certainly, a very successful attempt to be authentic with recorders, baroque oboes and bassoons. Wenzinger later recorded all Handel's Opus 6 Concertos as well as the Organ Concertos which continue to be available officially. This Opus 3 complete is one of the best ever recorded. The Overtures with Rolf Reinhardt were our first introduction to these works, setting new standards in the mid 1950's. |

LISZT: Les
Années de Pèlerinage (complete) The revelatory Edith Farnadi recording of "les Années" of Franz Liszt was the first complete recording of this music ever issued on LPs. Included are the three often forgotten "Venezia and Napoli" sections of the second year. Sound is quite good for the 50s; better than most of any domestic recordings of the decade. the Hungarian, Edith Farnadi was a Liszt specialist and trained in her native land. Her playing, possesses a sensitivity of purpose that is unmatched. |

NUSSDOREFER MARSCH Here is a break from the usual. It is produced on CD after a number of requests. These are the Westminster and Urania Stereo tapes all packaged and reprogrammed together on one CD. It's fun music and can turn your home into a beer garden (October Fest?) or can be used with your CD walkman while on that required daily hike. Half-Track Stereo tapes are the only sources for this transfer to CD. Enjoy. IN STEREO FROM HALF-TRACK TAPES |

BRAHMS:
Piano Concerto Nº 1 in D Minor, Opus 15 More Munch/BSO. Truly a very intense performance with all the recording problems cured including bad splices and balance between orchestra and piano. Graffman is sensitive, following Charles Munch concept "to hell and back" so to speak. Super quiet pressing (1s, 3s) Shaded Dog RCA LP was used for the transfer to CD. (Note: The balance are not fixed in the recent SONY CD issue of this recording!) |
